Who knew

Well who knew. Scouts (being a cub leader) is a blast and also a total time-suck. It's totally worth it though to see the kids develop (even over the course of an hour at a fundraiser!)

I'm really enjoying working with all of the other people and putting together a great program for the kids.

Scouter Dave

I just spent the last 7 days at a training camp in the Fraser Valley. Specifically Wood Badge 2 training.

I'm now a Gilwellian and have my (currently stinky) beads and Gilwell Necker.

The training was a blast - I met a lot of fantastic people all with the common goal of putting on quality programs and contributing to the development of our kids!

Moving to the Country

We're moving to the country!

Well we already live in a small town, now we're moving to a larger property with the potential to offset our daily living costs with gardening and other self-managed tasks.

I've already started bucking and splitting wood for the winter. It's slow going to start, but I know I'll get faster as I do more. It's not very time-effective, but it gets me away from the computer screens and out into the fresh air. It's also nice to have some of my living requirements satisfied "off-grid"
